Over the Line, Theodore Worozbyt

Over the Line

I have gone over and over the line
and found that everything is wrong with it.
The breath in my mouth is thickening,
I left my leopard shoes under the foot of the bed
where they ate
and marriage coats sank in the maw sound.
I wasn’t kind every minute, and that is what
kindness means.
And that is what meaning, too, means.
