We Are Shadows Who Walk in the Sun, Marc Janssen

Doug Roy, Friendship, Cut Paper

WE ARE SHADOWS WHO WALK IN THE SUN

Painting sidewalks in pantomime colors
You ape my dance morning commute
And like a funhouse mirror
            Shrink me fat
            Stretch me out
And for a laugh
            Roll around the horizon before
Slipping to sleep through the winter

Review by Jared Pearce

A strikingly fun description poem.  I really like the playfulness here.

Review by Carol Casey

There’s a sense of movement in this poem that makes it easy to picture a shadow walking. The title gives the poem another dimension.
