The Older Gardener, Mike Daniels

Indecision, 36X36, John Brosio

The Older Gardener

He no longer gathers the fallen leaves –
the wind too strong and too many leaves
tumble from the tree.

He sits at his dirty window,
eyes fixed on the desolation
and lips thinned by age or frustration.

Another gust, the tree shakes
and the grounded leaves are stirred
to a fury of activity.

He wants to turn away,
but he cannot set his back
to all those years just yet.
