“Holding Pattern: When Pilots Don’t Know Where to Fly Because There’s a Blip on the Screen”

I’m in need of life preservers, Lifesavers,
White Castle chicken rings – any & all things
that remind me of eternity. Hole in the middle
as if that space might be problematic, like
what do we do with students who buck
the system & ask hard questions that we
can’t answer.  Kids in a hole-ding pattern,
ones who need to see the commode water
go the other way when they flush
without having to go all the way
to Australia.

Review by Jared Pearce

I like this poem’s light touch regarding how we move and don’t move from one bit of knowledge or ability to another.
