SOMEWHERE IN THE KITT PEAK OBSERVATORY, A MAN AND A WOMAN MAKE LOVE

Opaque. Almandine. Odalisque
of the next century. Rear-ended
moon. Shine-less. Opaque’s opposite.
Post-translucence. The big yard
near the chateau with the plastic
playground equipment. Swing-set.
Cart, jungle gym. Post magnet.
They walked, thoroughly, an acceptable
time. Like facts and the enemies
of facts. Opaque, the woman
in the bearskin reached.
Huge, woodland odalisque.
In the citadel’s quieter room,
the priest’s dog yawned on his rug.
The candles were red. Almandine.
Alochthonous, originating
elsewhere, not native to a place.
Alograph. Alometry, as in growth.
Non-transparent, as anon.
They walked through, in an invisible
bee. Oogamous. The one-two punch.
Non-sting. Birth cord. The outline of it:
non-snake, placentate, half arabesque.
A wending through the upmost hall.
The utmost mitosis, stage four.
That’s telophase. That’s hidden in.
